depict assignment

The first video is called echo and is a short film about a girl who loses her voice to a demon who takes her voice as her own. this is in the horror genre and the thing I like about this short film is the narrative as it takes a unique concept and tries it's best to portray that. I think it did a good job in this way as the viewers can guess what is going to happen to the other girl after. The lighting of the shot is good as they capture the dark and light well. When she goes into the tunnel the darkness with the low key ambient lighting helps highlight the person and sets the tone of the situation.

This is a short where a little boy uses a stick and toy superman to et a ball out of the river. The lighting in the shot is amazing. The lens flare of the sun is juxtaposition to the scene of the trash piles everywhere. This creates beauty within the scene. I also like the extreme close up of what the story's focus is on and that is the toy superman going towards the ball and this follows the narrative of once the boy no longer needs the superman toy, he throws him away. The sound in the music starts off sad showing the situation and surrounding area is quite bad then the music picks up when the boy sees the ball and knows an idea how to get it.

Induction task- The Exchange
Evaluation
The continuity was good throughout as everything flowed smoothly however there is a scene that I thought didn't flow well and this means the shot felt off but to try and fix this we put it in slow motion. The shots we used were good as it showed match on action, pans, an establishing shot and close ups. The way we have edited the clips together make it feel smooth and uses the different shot types well. To improve next time I feel like I could have got more involved with the editing and shooting the scenes and contribute more to the ideas we come up with. The idea we had come up with is great as we managed to use the word exchange and turn it into love and the typical type of exchange is packages and these normally are played out to be something sinister but we spun that on it's head which our narrative explains. When we started editing, we used loads of cross dissolves and this helped the flow of the short movie. we had good quality of shots as the focus was where we wanted the audience and camera to focus on. we used a match on action shot which worked well with the narrative as it showed their plan to meet up and want the audience would expect to see after they start typing back. We also used royalty free music which helped move the story along and foreshadow the scenes about to follow. We also used ambient sounds well as it helped us get across their locations and the sound that would most likely be in the background. For example, Benjamin was outside so we added sound effects of birds and wing while Jasmine was in a school environment and we used school noises to portray this.
